3 Things the Amish Have to Say About Good Business

→ 3 Things the Amish Have to Say About Good Business – allbusiness.com

The ideal for the Amish is a life based around farming. But in some areas – like the one I live close to, Lancaster County, PA – the price of good farmland is becoming prohibitively expensive and as a result the Amish are having to rely more and more on occupations other than farming. The golden era when an Amish family could immigrate from Europe to America, travel a short distance from Philadelphia into the fertile limestone valleys of southeastern Pennsylvania and find affordable farmland with little trouble are long gone.

Since then they’ve branched out and found success in the construction and furniture manufacturing industries. Amish can own a business outright or can work for a business owned by “English” neighbors. It comes as no surprise that they are successful at business as well as farming. In fact research has revealed that the failure rate of Amish owned businesses within the first five years of operation is much lower than that of mainstream businesses.

But why? What makes the Amish succeed where others fail? Follow this link to find more about Amish business practices and how they relate to success rates overall.
