Gettysburg Artist-in-Residence brings Civil War to life through sculpture

The Artist-in-Residence is a new program at the battlefield. McGraw said that artists have always gone to the battlefield to render their work, but that this is the first year that the public has had a formal opportunity to interact with artists, watch them work and learn about their techniques. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn about McGraw’s technique and materials, such as that his pieces are usually around 18 inches tall and made from Chavant clay, an oil-based clay from France.
