“Highland House” overlooking Children’s Lake in Boiling Springs has played many roles in its 200-plus year history. It has been the estate of iron barons, a focal point of community life, a bed and breakfast, an inspiration for poetry and even a set for a popular TV show. Authors Richard Tritt and Randy Watts profiled the mansion in their book “At a Place Called the Boiling Springs.”
