→ SNYDER: Invasive flathead catfish has become a Susquehanna favorite – York Dispatch.

The article mentions a 40 lb specimen as being the record size catch for the state. But according to the PA Fish & Boat Commission’s own web page dedicated to fishing records the largest flathead caught weighed 48 lb. 6 oz ( 44.75 inches long and 30 inches around) and was caught in Berks County’s Blue Marsh Spillway in 2006. Estimated to be 14 years old, the giant fish was caught by James Shabrach Jr. of Boyertown, PA.
