→ No More Fakelore: Revealing The Real Pennsylvania Dutch Cuisine – NPR
This book blew me away. Rich in food history as well as Pennsylvania Dutch cultural history it’s well written and held my attention with a plethora of details about the foodways and folkways of life as it was in the Deitscherei. This is a book I will read again and refer to often.
Just one caveat: There are recipes in the back pages but it is not a “recipe book”, but rather a history book with recipes that reflect the content of each chapter. I highly recommend this book.
