→ Amish men lift and carry a house across a field and onto its new plot | Mail Online
This video was filmed in Spartansburg, PA, near lake Erie in Crawford County. The Amish community began there in 1966 and currently consists of about 9 church districts. I agree with the following comment that it probably shows the men moving a one room school house and not a house as written in the article.
It is not a house but a one room school building. It does not have interior plumbing restrooms are outhouses heat wood or coal burning stove or propane. These schools are a community effort. Land was probably donated by one of the community members. One Saturday a work crews built the school building and another crew built the pad. And the next weekend they moved building onto the pad and finished the inside. Schools like these usually hold 22 to 30 students ages 6 to 14; grades 1 thru 8. This type school buildings go up and come down to service the local plain community within a mile or two of walking distance. When these children finish school they can all can read, write and do math the basic skills.
