Shorebirds’ use of Lancaster County islands causes feds to reverse order over Safe Harbor Dam water level

 

The Conejohela Flats are one of two spots in Pennsylvania — the other is Presque Isle along Lake Erie — that have been designated key resting and feeding areas for wading shorebirds on their migration from Arctic breeding grounds to winter spots in the southern United States, as well as Central and South America.
