The author found entre into the Amish world through her Mennonite husband and wants her writing to help make ‘English’ people understand them.

“I realized that they’re not that different than us.The Amish are not a curiosity, like so many tourists see them. I’d like my readers to understand them,”

“It doesn’t matter where my books are set, you can know I have Amish friends there, or I wouldn’t write about that place, if I didn’t know the people personally,”

A good part of her readership is Amish, which Brunstetter counts as “a huge compliment.”
