The History of the Printings of the Martyr’s Mirror – Book Review

The Martyr’s Mirror is a book you would find in most Amish and Mennonite households because it tells the story of their forefathers and the horrible persecutions they suffered at the hands of the Swiss government and the state approved church. These persecutions, and the ravages of war and the desire for economic opportunity were the main drivers of Mennonite and the Amish-Mennonite emigration to colonial America during the 18th century.

You can see etchings by Jan Luiken (1649-1712) from a 1685 edition of the Martyr’s Mirror here.
