The Turkey Hill Experience + Chickies Rock County Park

UPDATE: Click the link to read my in depth review of The Turkey Hill Experience.

The link above leads to a very brief roundup of what you’ll “experience” at the Turkey Hill Experience. Not so much a review as synopsis. The writer mistakenly places the river town of Columbia in York County. It is actually in Lancaster County.

Hiking in Chickies Rock County Park near Columbia, PA.

If you’re looking for an outside activity to do with your kids after storming the free ice cream sample bar, the Breezyview and Chickies Rock overlooks – both part of Chickies Rock County Park – are right up the road from The Turkey Hill Experience.

If exploring precipitous overlooks hundreds of feet above a swift moving river with small children is not your idea of a relaxing outing, then continue north on Rt 441 down through the road cut and park at the small area at the base of the hill. From here, proceed across a small grass area, along the rocky footpaths and up the old stone steps to reach the kid friendly Chiques Trail.

A short walk to south will get you to the base of Chickies Rock where you might see some rock climbers practicing their craft upon the 200′ high quartzite cliff. Head north a short distance at the stone stairs to view a waterfall created by the damming of Chiques Creek. The new pedestrian bridge spanning the creek is part of the Northwestern Lancaster County River Trail that upon completion will run 14 miles from Columbia River Park to Falmouth.
